A commitment to the health of our planet

There’s a beautiful cross-section between mental health and the outdoors. We know from extensive research that being outside in nature can reduce our stress, relieve anxiety and in general, just make us feel happier. In fact, health care professionals in four provinces can now prescribe a free Parks Canada pass to visit our national parks. By spending time outside people can “manage anxiety and improve mental and physical health.”

Our mental health matters now more than ever, but so do the natural environments we are fortunate to access.

MLC is built on the foundation of relationships and community. We elevate mental health, wellness and education brands who are committed to sharing, engaging and empowering communities to learn and grow. We support organizations who are driven by research and science as they educate and build awareness around important issues. And the core of who we are is rooted in the mountains.

MLC joins 1% for the Planet

Our dedication to the mountains — our environment — and our health is why we are so pleased to announce that MLC & Co. has joined 1% for the Planet, with a commitment to donate one per cent of our annual sales to support nonprofits focused on the environment.

As a member of this incredible community, we are engaging in a focused effort to build support for environmental issues in six core areas: climate, food, land, pollution, water and wildlife. Only three per cent of total philanthropic giving goes to environmental causes. If everyone gives one per cent, the opportunity for impact is significant.

We will be working to select one or several nonprofits to support in the coming months through this initiative and look forward to learning more about the incredible environmental efforts taking place both here at home, around the country and the world.

We will be sharing more on our social feeds throughout the year, so we invite you to stay connected with us as we explore more about mental health, our environment and the collective impact we can have together.
