Student conference aims to inspire Alberta youth
Virtual conference to focus on mix of energy, the environment and climate
A newly announced student conference in Alberta is gearing up to provide a dynamic virtual learning environment for high school students this fall.
Hosted by the Ten Peaks Innovation Alliance, the one-day conference is designed to provide an opportunity for students to listen, learn and engage directly with those at the forefront of Alberta’s energy transformation.
Dozens of experts are already on tap to participate, from industry, academia, Indigenous communities, government, and researchers. Keynote speakers include Susannah Pierce, president and country chair FM, renewables and energy solutions at Shell, Peter Tertzakian, creator of Energyphile, Chelsea Donelon, Senior Advisor with TransAlta, and David Dodge, the producer of greenenergyfutures.ca.
“The more knowledge and understanding young people have about innovation and learn about technology, AI, inclusivity and entrepreneurship as it relates to energy, the environment and climate, the more they can play an active role in our province,” says Dagmar Knutson, founder of the Ten Peaks Innovation Alliance. “Our goal is for students to talk away from the conference realizing that adults in Alberta are really doing something about climate change. But most importantly, we want students to be inspired to create their own solutions as they pick their careers and enter the workforce.”
Registration for the 10Peaks Innovation Xchange opens this fall. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to be the first to learn about new speakers, industry updates and more.
